It’s not entirely straightforward to use an amber light, but it’s easy to learn.

Frants Kristensen starts with some general knowledge about amber and how to find it. Which wind direction is most favorable, and what should you consider regarding water levels and the different types of beaches? It’s also important to know how amber is deposited and what it washes ashore with.

Frants explains how to use the lights and what to pay special attention to when walking in the dark. Tips on how to orient yourself so you can find your way back home are also essential.

Then we head to the beach and use the lights to search for amber. Everyone gets small pieces of amber in different colors to recognize how amber looks when illuminated with the light.

Feel free to bring your own amber light.

Note: If you don’t have a car, carpooling can be arranged.

Frants shows different types of amber and the difference between raw and polished amber pieces. You will learn how to distinguish between amber and stones. After participating in this course, you will no longer be in doubt about what is amber when you go amber hunting. Frants also explains where and when the chances are best to find amber.

Then we head to the beach, and all children are "lucky" and find a nice piece of amber. In Bødehuset, you grind and polish your amber, and Frants drills a hole in the amber so that it can become a fine amber necklace on a leather cord.

Frants himself has been an amber collector and has polished amber for most of his life.

You are welcome to bring an adult. The age limit is a maximum of 12 years – if there are slightly older siblings, they are also welcome to participate.

Maximum 25 participants.

Dogs are not allowed on this tour.
